Biography

The following information comes from research conducted by Gottlieb Glockner a teacher in Kaltenbrunn, Germany, who documented every family mentioned in the Lutheran church records from the Kaltenbrunn Parish. The parish included the villages of Kaltenbrunn, Freihung, and Thansüß (in English: Thansuess). Hr. Glockner examined the Births, Baptisms, Marriages, Deaths, and Holy Communion Rolls. His research was conducted in the 1960s or earlier. From the records he created more than three thousand Family Sheets and assembled them into an ‘Ortssippenbuch.’ Helmut Krauss, a resident of Kaltenbrunn who saw the profiles in WikiTree for people from Thansuess, contacted Joe Kohl in January of 2017 and was kind enough to send him scanned PDFs of the relevant family sheets. The information from those family sheets is the source of the family information in this profile. After sharing information back and forth, Helmut was able to determine that he and Joe Kohl were in fact 9th Cousins through a shared distant ancestor, Johannes Krauß, (1602 - 1674).[1]
