Biography

Gerrit/Garrett Post was the son of Jacobus Post and Metje Gerritse Van Wagenen.^[1]

Gerrit Post was baptized on 19 November 1758 in Acquackanonk, Passaic, New Jersey.^[2]

Garret Post married Martyntye (or spelled Martina) Berthholf on 7 June 1782.^[3]

"Col. Garret Post , born in Warwick County, New York, died there March 12, 1825; married June 7, 1782 Martinche Bertholf. Col. Post was the son of Major Jacobus Post, Revolutionary soldier. COL. GARRET POST commanded the 30th Regiment of the 19th Brigade of Infantry, in the War of 1812 (see p. 630 of Military papers of Gov. Daniel D. Tompkins, of New York, 1807-17, published 1898.)"^[5]
