Ephraim, born in 1776 in Hebron, Connecticut,[1] was the son of Jordan Post and Abigail Loomis, who emigrated to Upper Canada (Ontario) from the United States.
During the War of 1812, Ephraim served as a private in the 3rd York Militia.
From Jan. 1 to Feb. 24, 1813, he served on the Niagara Frontier.

From Feb. 25 to Mar. 24, 1813, he served in Capt. Duncan Cameron’s Co.

On Apr. On Apr. 27, 1813, he was captured at Fort York while serving in Capt. Stephen Heward’s Company.

From Oct. 14 to 24, 1814, he was employed in the Engineer Department at York with Capt. Heward.

He became an innkeeper in Trafalgar Township, Upper Canada. The Post's Inn was located at Trafalgar (7th Line) and Dundas.[7] The area around this intersection became known as Posts' Corner, later Postville. [8]The inn was taken over by Ephraim's son, Hiram.[9]
He is buried at Munn's Cemetery, Oakville, Halton, Ontario.[1]
