Capt.Henry James William Postlethwaite was born in 1821, the son of Mary and Henry. He married Henrietta Nelson Richardson on 2 February 1839 in Calcutta, West Bengal, India. They had three children during their marriage. He died in October 1861 in London, London, at the age of 40.

Worcestershire obtaining a commission as an Ensign with the 26th Regiment of Foot by purchase (£450) on 11th August 1837; then Lieutenant by purchase (£250) on the 5th April 1839. NA WO12/4284-5 Muster rolls; WO17/560 Officers Returns; WO31/768,793. C in C's Memo. The 26th Regiment had been stationed in India since 1828; Henry married at Calcutta a Henrietta Nelson Richardson, of Kumtoul, Tirhoot on the 2nd February 1839. 3rd Daughter of Col Christopher Rowland Richardson and Marta Anne Richardson ( Nee Humphreys) On the 8th August 1840 they had a son, Harry, whilst stationed at Fort William, Bengal, India. Henry then accompanied his regiment to China qualifying for the 1st China War Medal and the 1842 musters show him stationed in Hong Kong, then Bengal before returning to England in 1843. The Officers Returns for that year note that he was 'To retire from the Army', with leave 'until retirement' and there is no trace on the musters after June 1843. The 1851 Census shows Henry to be living at Islington, Middlesex with his wife Henrietta, son Harry and a daughter Elizabeth born following his retirment to London.
