Biography
Jane “Jenny” Poston was born 17 October 1785 in Rowan County, North Carolina, to John Poston and Rebecca Baldridge.[1] She married John Bryson about 1806. She died in 1873 in Jackson County, North Carolina, and is buried in Cullowhee Cemetery.[2]
Research Notes
According to the family record her mother submitted with her pension application, Jane was born only three months before her sister Elizabeth. One of their birth years must be in error. The 1850 census reports her age as sixty, giving her a birth year of about 1790. Her tombstone states she was "about 85" when she died in 1873 giving her a birth year of about 1788. Like her husband, there appears to be no contemporary source that give her a middle name or middle initial.
