"George Washington Poteet was the son of Samuel D. Poteet & Nancy Hymer. (His grandparents were Edward Poteet & Martha Unk) He had several siblings Cynthia Poteet Ezel, (burred in the same cemetary) Levi Rufus Poteet, Lucinda Poteet Palmore, Elijah Norman Poteet, Seaberry Poteet , Sady Poteet Basham, Sidney Mary Anne Poteet Mc Murry, Henry Nelson Poteet and Telithia Poteet. He also had a wife Sarah Anne Barber (m. 13 Nov. 1851) & a daughter Georgia Anne Poteet b. Sep 1852. It is so sad he died a year after he married and a month after his daughter was born." he is buried at Second Creek Cemetery, five Points, Lawrence county, Tennessee, USA
