Biography
Jeffrey Esty was married to Margaret Pote (or Pett?) at Freston, Suffolk, England, on 29 May 1606.[1][2]
She apparently died before 4 January 1657, when Jeffrey Este made his will and did not mention a wife.

Research by the Towne Family Association has shown that Isaac Estey is the son of Mary Salmon.
Mary Towne Estey is married to Isaac Estey (b. 1628 - d.1711). Here is some info that most people do not have. Isaac's mother is Mary Salmon. Not Margaret Pote or Pet.
MARY SALMON
BIRTH 15 NOV 1594 • Rattlesden, Suffolk, England
DEATH 1651 • Massachusetts, USA
Derek C N Salmon, a book publisher, published A Salmon Family - Five Hundred Years from Suffolk to Sevenoaks in 2007, re-published in 2012, with a revised edition in 2013. Charles Farrow researched and discovered this. Mr. Farrow has been a hired genealogist for the Towne Family Association. The book was only available with pre-paid orders and that time has past.
It was discovered Margaret Pet was married to Jeffrey Eastie, son of Edward, older brother to Christopher. So, the two Jeffrey's in question were cousins.
This is a very interesting find, Bret. Do you have access to the book? I'd be interested in what documentary evidence the author (Salmon or Farrow?) found that leads to these conclusions. I found it on WorldCat, but it's not available in any of the US libraries, apparently.
I do not. One of the former staff of the Towne Family Association posted this to the Towne Cousins Facebook Group. I will reach out to her and get back to you.
Does it make sense that a couple married in 1606 would wait until 1625 to have their first child?
FamilySearch https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/D21C-RN1 feels strongly that Margaret Pott married a different Jeffrey Estey (his cousin) and that this Jeffrey Estey married Mary Salmon at Old Newton in 1624. Other folks apparently say same Jeffrey, first wife/second wife.
Pate-279 and Pote-1 appear to represent the same person because: I started looking at these two families in the grandchildren's generation, where it was clear the people match. The data aren't identical, but it's pretty clear these are the same person. Need some sources to determine LNAB and verify details. Please record variant spellings!
