Circumstantial evidence leads me to believe that William is the son of Robert Pottenger and Mary Buchanan but I am looking for more solid proof. Also, in the Monday, December 9, 1811 Paper: Gazette (Portland, Maine) Volume: XIV Issue: 35 Page: 3 there is mention of a Robert Pottenger who died aboard the Brig Henry. Could this be William's father? Previous data shows Mary Buchanan's husband Robert died in 1801.
