Texanna was born in 1884 to Rural Potter and Lucy Holmes in Florida. She lived with her family in Vernon until she got married to William Porter on Christmas Day in 1901 [1].
She had several children with him but according to the 1920 Federal Census, William died before 1920 leaving Texanna widowed before she reached 40 years old. She took over the family farm and worked the land with her children. The 1940 census stated that she was a chipper for a turpentine farm[2]. By 1945, Texanna had moved to Panama City and was considered disabled.
