Lavina was the oldest of four children of Joseph and Louvicy Staley Potter. Her mother also had four children from her first marriage.[1]
Lavina married Fredrick Burwell when she was about 18 years old.[2] In 1940, they were living in Shelley, Idaho where Fred was working in a potato warehouse.[3] They are the parents of a son[4] and two daughters.[5] The marriage ended in 1948.[6]
Lavina married Alec Avila about four years later.[7]
She married Lawrence Gray in 1977 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and he died in 1983.[8]
Lavina died at age 94 in Rigby, Idaho, and is buried at Little Butte Cemetery, in Annis, Idaho.[9]
