Ernest was born in 1904, the oldest child of Martin Monroe Potter and Ione Reddout. He married twice, divorcing his first wife, and passed away in 1976 at 72 years old.

Ernest Potter was my grandfather, and once he got locked up in a jail in Mexico, Chiuahah... we don't know why,,, the prisoners had to take a pail filled with water up the mountain, pour it out and repeat. The second day he didn't go back down the side leading to the prison, he went down the other side with his pail of water and escaped and went back to the US... never did that again...
Obituary
This man was an honorable man. He was a farmer, devoted husband and father. Died on his front porch watching the world go by on a beautiful fall evening. He was survived by a wife, Nora Gertrude Burrell Potter, daughters Peggy Horn and husband Leeman and Ernestine McFerrin and her husband Doyle McFerrin. Also surviving... 5 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Mike, Bill, Matt, Joe and Rodney Horn and Michelle and Melissa McFerrin.
