She did not appear to have married the baby's father.

      • I merged this profile and am still trying to clean it up, so any help is welcome.

Be careful in adding primary sources. There were 5 or 6 John Potters in Tennessee at the same time. The oldest would be John Potter I, living in mostly Washington County, TN. Then John Potter II, living in Carter County, Tennessee. Also a John O Potter and a John M Potter. Then there is the son of John Potter II, living next door to him in several of the Carter County Censuses.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

What evidence do you have that John Potter married a Magdalena Molly Stout? I have only ever seen user-submitted type evidence of this and never anything that actually lists his wife as a Magdalena.

Source: Tennessee Records: Bible Records and Marriage Bonds. Compiled by Jeanetter Tillotson Acklen, DAR. Published by Clearfield Press. p. 321. Godfrey Daniel Stout, Sr. and his wife, Catharine Boltzen Stout, had 11 children. Child # 8 was "Mollie Stout; husband, John Potter, II."

However, the name Magdalena is not given for Molly in these Bible records. I have seen it often in other people's entries online, but they give no source. I have also seen her referred to as Mary Molly Stout, but again, no source. I've also seen her sister referred to as Mary (Magdalene) Stout. I've also seen the name Magdalene used as a first or middle name in almost every generation of Stouts above Molly's. However, I would be just as happy to see the name Magdalene removed from her entry unless someone can come up with a source.

Potter-7224 and Potter-5009 appear to represent the same person because: These two Potters have the same wife and the same mother. They both died in the same place around the same time. Some of the conflicting facts will need to be ironed out.
Potter-10379 and Potter-5009 appear to represent the same person because: Same birthplaces, same wife, same children, birth dates within 5 years.
