William Potter and his wife, Elizabeth Hughes lived on Rowe Avenue in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on 1 January 1920. They were boarders in the household of James and Eva Hughes. William, age 32, was born in England. His father was born in France and his mother in England. William immigrated in 1903 and was naturalized in 1914. He worked as a lace weaver in a lace mill. Elizabeth, age 32, was born in Rhode Island. Her father was born in Scotland and her mother in England.[1]
William died on 15 July 1949 at his home, 70 Rowe Avenue in Pawtucket at the age of 63.[2]
Obituary - William A. Potter William A. Potter, husband of the late Elizabeth (Hughes) Potter, died last night [15 July 1949] at his home, 70 Rose Avenue, Pawtucket. Mr. Rowe, who was 63, had been a Pawtucket resident for the past 30 years. He was born in England and came to the United States 49 years ago. He was a member of the Amalgamated Lace Weavers of America. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Crocker of Dorchester, Mass. and Mrs. Frances Charlebois of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three brothers, Harry and Albert of Washington, R.I. and Harold of Charlestown. Funeral services will be held from the F.B. Williams & Son Funeral Home, 538 Central Avenue, Monday [18 July 1949] at 2 p.m. The Rev. Elmer H. Murdoch, pastor of the Darlington Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.[3]
