Biography

John Potter was born in 1870 in Junee, New South Wales. He was the second son of James Potter, a tinsmith, and his wife, Mary Bunt, homemaker.

He died as a result of an accident aged 15 years. John is buried in Bong Bong Christ Church Cemetery, Moss Vale, New South Wales, beside his uncle, Thomas Potter, whose death was also tragically too young.

Research note

Although John's birth registration reads 1871 there are two reasons why that cannot be, it seems: his next sibling was born just six months after Sep 1871, and he could only be 14 at the time of death - not 15 as inscribed on his headstone. Ken Evans
