Martin (Poulsen) Nielsen was a Latter Day Saint pioneer.

Biography

Martin was born in 1854. He was the son of Martin Poulsen and Maria Nielsdatter. He passed away in 1855.

Traveled on the ship James Nesmith departing from Liverpool on 7 Jan 1855 and arriving 23 Feb 1855 in New Orleans. [1][2][3][4]

Joined the Jacob F. Secrist and Noah T. Guymon Company departing 13 Jun 1855 from the outfitting post at Mormon Grove, Kansas (Near Atchison). Jacob F. Secrist died on July 2 and Noah T. Guymon became captain of the company.

He died enroute to the Salt Lake Valley, most likely of Cholera, shortly after Jacob Secrist died.

Note: Name also listed as Morten - this record uses the information on his mother's cemetery marker in Brigham City.
