Biography

Melinda Pound was born 11 Apr 1796, in Shelby County, Kentucky. She is a daughter of Joseph Pound and Elizabeth Stark. [1]

She married Rice McCoy, 02 Jan 1812.[2] The ceremony was performed by Rice's father, William McCoy.

Melinda lived in Vernon Township, Washington, Indiana, in 1840. [3]

She married John Martin in Washington, Indiana, in 1843. He was the father-in-law of two of her children. [4]

Melinda and John lived in Vernon, Washington, Indiana, United States, in 1850. [5]

Melinda passed away 29 Dec 1859, in Washington County, Indiana. She is buried in the Livonia Cemetery, Livonia, Washington County, Indiana. [6]

  • There is an extended biography included on Find A Grave that is a good read.
  • 04 Jan 2021, her married last name was changed from McCoy to MsCoy, by David Hughey. No reason was given for this name change, and all prior sources have McCoy, and I could not easily see the reason for the married last name spelling change, and corrected it back to McCoy.
