DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Marie Anne by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Marie Anne:
There's nothing in the profile documenting that Therese was part of her name. In addition, the record spells her surname Pourciau. I'm removing Therese from her name data unless or until Therese can be documented as part of her name, and initiating a merge with Marie Anne Pourciau-10, who has the same marriage record. Their attached spouses also have to be sorted out.
Pourceau-1 and Pourciau-51 are not ready to be merged because: These profiles ARE duplicates, but BOTH need to be merged into Pourciau-10. Setting this merge aside until the morning, when I can determine why the merge into Pourciau-10 has been set as an unmerged match.
Stephanie, you set aside the merge of P-1, P-10, and P-51 until later. P-1 and P-10 have been merged. but poor P-51 is still floating in space. Is she now ready to join the other 2?
I disagree that Marie Anne Pourciau-10 married Louis Amable Couvillon-5.
According to the PM of Couvillon-5:
“The entirety of the biography is taken from the book "To Avoyelles with the Couvillon's" by Ira Couvillon published in 1966”
I believe that Mr. Couvillon made one of his rare mistakes here.
According to the below, Couvillon-5 never left Canada, never married and had no children.
“Dictionary of Canadian Biography”
http://www.biographi.ca/en/bio/quevillon_louis_6E.html
“Fourth of the eight children of Jean-Baptiste Quévillon and Marie-Anne Cadieux; d. there unmarried 9 March 1823”
Even Ira Couvillon has these as his parents.
On the other hand, the marriage of Marie Anne Pourciau-10 to Adrien Amable Couvillon-10 is supported by :
• Point Coupee Parish History and It's Familys. Edited by Judy Riffel, article by Betty T. Pourceau. Baton Rouge La., Le Comite' des Archivesde la Louisiane,1983; page 302.
• Amable, of St. Louis de Terrebonne Parish, Canada (Adrien & Francoise Labrocrie) m. 7 Jan 1779 Marie Anne POURCIAU (Jean Baptiste & Marie Therese Chalin) wit. Martin Soudrie & Charles Emon (PCP-2, pt. 2, 204) also (PCP-4, 149)
The following citation says “Amable” Couvillon married Marie Anne Pourciau.
No where will you find that “Louis” Amable married her.
"Louisiana Births and Christenings, 1811-1830, 1854-1934", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V2WK-XTH : 14 January 2020), Amable Couvillion, 1788.
And finally, even though Family Search and Find a Grave are not sufficient as sources, their LACK of mentioning Louis Amable Couvillon-5 is telling.
It appears that Louis Amable Couvillon-5 has been conflated with Adrien Amable Couvillon-10.
For an explanation, please see my profile Couvillon-141.
I hesitated to make any corrections, because it involves so many other profiles and the Louisiana Projects is one of the PMs.
