Gerasime Pousson was born on 5 March 1861 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, United States. He was the son of Bertrand Pousson and Odile "Adele" Guillory.^[1]

He married Elvina Marie Lejeune, daughter of Alcide Lejeune and Joachine Fruge. They applied for a marriage license on 19 September 1883 at the Opelousas courthouse, and were married the following month on 8 October 1883 in the church at Iota, Acadia Parish.^[2][3] Known children of the marriage:
