Birth Jane was born in UK 1861.
Emigration - Even though she must have emigrated before Feb 1880 (to have married James), she was still apparently counted in a census in 1881 in Stanford Bishop Hereford England.
Jane Annie Powell married James Overend on 17/Feb/1880.
She died in Christchurch on 2 Apr-1926 and was buried on 5 Apr 1926 in the Bromley cemetery, Christchurch.
It is worth noting that her given name changes on various records. Family records indicate she lived for a period at 156 Hills road, and at 120 Hasting St Sydenham Ch-Ch.
Item of Interest... After she came to NZ she offered T.J Edmonds (Edmonds "sure to rise") the recipe for the baking powder used on the William East farm, in return for her son Rupert to be given a job in the factory. Soon after Rupert was asked if he had any gardening knowledge, and moved to become the Gardner. He set out the well known grounds of the factory and maintained them for a number of years.
Ann was born probably about 1861(according to Bromley Cemetery records). She married James Smith Overend in 1880 in New Zealand.[1]
Ann (Powell) Overend died 2 April 1926 at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand and was buried in the Bromley Cemetery.[2]
