Cuthbert Powell was second child of ten born to Dr. Llewellyn Powell and Sarah Harrison. He married Susan Belle Dixon, daughter of the Hon. Archibald Dixon, a United States Senator from Kentucky and former Lt. Governor of Kentucky. They had two children before he died during the Civil War, probably from wounds suffered in the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky, in October 1862.
Cuthbert was born about 1840. He passed away before 1870.
