In 1910, the Powell family lived on their mortgaged farm in Olive, Meigs, Ohio. All members of the household were born in Ohio, as were their parents, except as noted. In 1918, the Powells lived on their farm at RFD #3, Long Bottom, Meigs, Ohio, when Richard Vernon Powell, 37, registered for the WWI Draft on 12 September 1918 in Meigs, Ohio. His contact was his wife, Lulu B. Powell. Richard was born 4 November 1881. He was of medium height and slender build, with brown eyes and black hair.[2]

George’s father, Richard Vernon Powell, 37, died of tuberculosis on 12 July 1919 in Orange, Meigs, Ohio. The informant to his death was his wife. He was buried in Tuppers Plains, Ohio.[3]

In 1920, the Powell family lived at 722 Jeanette St., Parkersville, Wood County, West Virginia. All Powell members of the household were born in Ohio, as were their parents.
