After coming to Detroit with her husband, Ivy Goodman, she worked as a waitress at the Leland Hotel. She divorced Ivy on June 30 1942. When she was hospitalized with a bowel obstruction, her friends Bobbie and Everett May came to visit her in the hospital. Their neighbor drove them to the hospital, that man was Joseph Harold Young (my father) who later married her. Lora continued to work as a waitress at various places until Joe retired from Ford Motor Company and purchased the 5 Mile Beech Lounge. Lora helped manage the business and do the accounting. She was active in Eastern Star and became a Worthy Matron. She also loved horse breeding and racing.[1]
