Living next door to George was his widowed mother, Hester, and his siblings, John, Elizabeth, Harriet, and Caroline. His father, George, died in 1850, so was not listed with the family. [3]

Bitton is in the Keynsham Registration District, Somerset County, which includes Bitton Parish in Gloucestershire, and is the reason the family is listed in Somerset. The Powell family has not relocated. George is listed with Mary, age 33, his wife, and their children: Mary Ann, George, Samuel, and Charles.[4]
In the 1871 Census, George, age 44, was the head of his household in Oldland, Bitton, Somerset, England. He is listed with his son, Samuel, age 14, and his son, Charles, age 11. His wife, Mary, died in 1868, therefore, she was not listed with the family.[5]
In the 1881 Census, George, age 60, was a Land Hawker and was the widowed head of his household in Foots Hill, Oldland, Bitton, Gloucestershire, England.[6]
George's death, age 66, was listed as Jun 1893 and registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of the 1893 Civil Registration Death records, in the Keynsham District. He likely died at the family home in Oldham.[7]
