Karen’s note: This is earliest mention of Joshua found in Virginia records to date. He has not been found again in Caroline Co. records. He appears on 1737 tithe list a short distance away in Orange Co., VA.

Richard Yarbrough of St. Mark’s Parish, Orange Co., planter, to Joshua Yarbrough of same, planter; Lease and Release; for £21.6 current money, 213 acres on the south side of the Robinson River … on the river bank at the mouth of a branch … in the fork of a branch … to the river right over against Zachary Sparks’ corner. Research Notes

Based on the available sources Sarah's existence is suspect, and there is no evidence that her maiden name is known.

Profiles claim that she was married in 1735; therefore her birth year has been estimated by subtracting 21 years, per WikiTree guidance.

Sarah was mentioned on a Findagrave memorial with a death date of 1760.^[2] However, this profile is unsourced and bears no burial data; "Burial details unknown." It also states "Sarah (Unknown Parents) married Joshua Yarbrough Sr. and had 3 kids: Joshua, Macajah, and James."

Ancestry.com trees have birth records for a woman born in England to Robert and Elizabeth Powell or no sources at all.

A previous note here said "Maiden name probably Powell, probably sister of Ambrose Powell Jr (abt.1841-aft.1920)." However, this statement is unsourced. Note the huge age difference, assuming that Sarah was born in 1720.

This profile's birth and death locations are suspect. Her birth place of Bute County, North Carolina wasn't formed until 1764 from Granville County (est. 1746), which was formed from Edgecomb County (est. 1741), which was formed from Bertie Precinct (est. 1722), which was formed from Albemarle County (est. 1664). And her death place of Franklin County wasn't formed from Bute County until 1779. ^[3]
