Biography

Margaret was born about 1801 Margaret Powell passed away about 1890. She married john Griffiths about 1845 after his first wife died in 1842

She had been widowed married to a tavern owner a Mr Davies they had about 5 children. She had a step daugghter Elizabeth who John and margaret helped rear also

John married Sarah Morris in Monmouthshire Wales in about 1829 Sarah died early and he remarried Margaret Powell Davies from london who had children from her own previous marriage

She is noted as running a tavern nearby appears family owned much land in area John and sarah five children and it appears Margaret helped John bring these and her own stepchildren up

Johns children's with Sarah were

Elizabeth Mary 1830 Sarah Mary Adeline James Morris Griffiths Maria David

And step children Elizabeth Davies lived with them according to 1851 census

The three Griffiths children appeared to have immigrated to Australia in 1857 perhaps with Elizabeth Mary Griffiths and her new husband Donald Forbes all settled in Wandiligong Victoria Australia being a very close family

Margaret married^[2]David Davies, a widower, working as a Victualler, at the age of thirty nine, on 17 October 1840 at All Souls Church, Marylebone, Middlesex. At the time of the ceremony both were residing in the All Souls District and her father John Harris works as a Tailor and her father in law, John Davies is noted as a Farmer. The marriage was registered^[3]during the fourth quarter of 1840 in the district of Marylebone.

After the passing of her husband David Davies, Margaret, a widow, married^[4]John Griffiths, a widower and worked as a Builder on 24 June 1845 at The Holy Trinity Church, Coventry, Warwickshire, England. At the time of the ceremony Margaret resided in Cook Street, Coventry and John Griffiths resided in Trevethin, Monmouthshire, Wales, United Kingdom. Her father, John Harris continued to work as a Tailor and her father in law, William Griffiths is noted as a Builder. The marriage was registered^[5]during the second quarter of 1845 in the district of Coventry.
