Biography

William Edward Powell was born in Brougham, Ontario Canada, 2nd August 1851 to Caleb Powell Powell-9486 I Caleb Powell and Clerke-201 I Susan Clerke . He first married Elma Louise Clemons Clemons-1015 I Elma Clemons of Racine, Wisconsin and 2nd Effie Richter Richter-1236 I Effie Richter of Illinois. He was a lumberman, builder and land developer. Immigrated to North Dakota in 1883 with his father, Caleb Powell and brother, John Powell. Business and residence in Saskatchewan, and British Columbia, Canada and North Dakota, as well as Salem and Portland, Oregon. W. E. Powell retired and died August 2, 1951, in Seattle. He is buried with his Powell birth family in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Cando, Towner County, North Dakota.
