Eliza Jane Power was born on 29 August 1860 at Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia [1]and was christened on 4 November 1860 at Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia, the daughter of Morgan Power and Ann Beckett and she was the sister of Samuel Robert (Becket) Power, Anna (Hannah) Selena Rebecca (Power) Baker, George Thomas Power, William Henry Power, Emily Jane Power, Martha Elizabeth (Power) Bye, Emma Anne (Power) Angel, Edward Morgan Power, Ellen Maria (Power) Angel, Sarah Alice Power and Morgan Power. Her birth and baptism were recorded under the name Jane Eliza, but she was always known as Eliza Jane.
She married George Alfred Wild on 19 February 1879 at Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia [2] and their children were Stanley Morgan Wild, Ada Rebecca (Wild) Cavenagh, Hilda Maud Wild, Elsie Blanche (Wild) Taylor, George Allan Wild, Constance (Connie) May Wild, Roy Arnold Wild, Doris Mildred (Wild) Taylor, Ralph Gerald Wild, Albert Aubrey Thomas Wild, Rita Gertrude Wild and John Joseph Wild.
Eliza died on 8 February 1935 at Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia [3] and was buried on 9 February 1935 in the Church of England section of the Wagga Wagga Monumental Cemetery, Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia.
The funeral of Mrs. Eliza Jane Wild took place on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Wild; who was the wife of Mr. George Alfred Wild, of 'Wahroonga, Lake Albert, died on Friday morning at her home. She was aged 74 years. The funeral left 'Wahroonga' after a short service conducted by the Rev. C. M. Batterbee. assisted by the Rev. J. H. Short. There were many relatives and friends present at this service and Mr. Batterbee made reference to the good life that Mrs. Wild had led. The cortege was a long and representative one and included relatives and friends from Sydney, Tarcutta, Forest Hill, Adelong, Ladysmith, Borambola, Gregadoo, Lake Albert, Tooles Creek, Malebo and North Wagga. There were also a number of Wagga residents present. The long cortege emphasised the respect and esteem in which Mrs. Wild was held. The interment took place in the family ground in the Church of England portion of the Wagga cemetery. The carriers at the house and the cemetery were Messrs. Roy Arnold, Ralph Gerald, and John Joseph (sons), and Ronald, Harold and Colin Cavanagh (grandsons). The pallbearers were George Allan Wild (son), Stanley James Wild (grandson), Samuel Angel, junr., James Lockett, John Lockett, Walter Wild and Matthew Bye (nephews) and Eric Craft (relative). The Rev. C. M. Batterbee, assisted by the Rev. Short, officiated at the graveside. The chief mourners present at the house and the graveside apart from those mentioned were George Alfred Wild (husband), Stanley Morgan Wild (son), and three daughters, Mrs. W. L. Taylor (Hurstville), Mrs. R. E. Taylor (Concord, Sydney), Miss Hilda Maud Wild (Lake Albert), Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Angel and Miss Alice Power (sisters and brother-in-law). Mrs. Stanley M. Wild (daughter-in-law), and Mrs. John Wild (sister-in-law). There were a number of grandchildren and other relatives present, and friends of Mrs. Wild, some of whom had known her for over half a century. Many beautiful floral tributes were noticeable, including one from the Lake Albert Social Club, the Lake Albert Pastime Tennis Club, and employees of the Murrumbidgee Milling Company. [4] [5].
Funeral: The death occurred yesterday morning at her home, 'Wahroonga,' Lake Albert, of a well-known and very highly respected resident of Lake Albert for many years in Mrs. Eliza Jane Wild, at the age of 74 years, after having been in indifferent health for some time. She was the wife of Mr. George Alfred Wild, and mother of the well-known family of Lake Albert. She was the fourth daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Power, senr., of Lake Albert, and was born at Wagga. She was married at Lake Albert over 56 years ago to Mr. George Alfred Wild, of 'Wahroonga', Lake Albert, and he survives her; also, five sons and three daughters, Messrs. Stanley Morgan Wild, of Ladysmith; George Allan Wild, of 'The Willows', Tumbarumba road; Roy Arnold, Ralph Gerald, and John Joseph, all of Lake Albert; Mrs. Walter Leslie Taylor, of Hurstville, Sydney; Mrs. Reuben Edward Taylor, of Concord, Sydney; and Miss Hilda Maud Wild, of Lake Albert. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Samuel Angel, of Trail street, Wagga, and Miss Alice Power, of Wagga; also 13 grandchildren, five of whom she reared on account of the death of their mother. One son and three daughters predeceased her, Albert Aubrey Thomas Wild, Mrs. Alex. Cavenagh, late of Lockhart, and Misses Connie Wild and Reta Gertrude Wild, late of Lake Albert; also three brothers, Samuel Power, late of Gumly Gumly, and Messrs. George and Morgan Power, of Wagga, and three sisters, Mrs. Aaron Baker, late of Wagga, Mrs. Fred Bye, late of Adelong, and Mrs. E. J. Angel, late of Lake Albert. Mrs. Wild was a good wife and mother and a very kind neighbor, and fine homely woman. She was a devoted member of her church, and a kind friend to many. The funeral will leave her late residence, 'Wahroonga' this afternoon at 2.30 for interment in the Church of England portion, of the Wagga cemetery [6].
