Ellen (Power) Culloty was born in Ballyhorgan, County Kerry, on the 7 March 1873 to Thomas Power and Ellen McCarthy. [1]
She was 2 1/2 years old when she emigrated to New Zealand with her parents Thomas (30) and Ellen (28) aboard the "Waitangi". They sailed on the 24 June 1876 and arrived in Canterbury on 16 September 1876. Her older sister Mary A (11), and brother Thomas (4), and baby Julia (7 Months) made up the family unit. [2]
Ellen married Eugene Culloty (1850 - 1940) on the 10 September 1894 in New Zealand. [3]
Ellen died when giving birth to a still born child[4] on the 1 July 1913. [5]
She was buried in the Rakaia Cemetery on the 4 July. [6]
Her grave is in the Roman Catholic Section, Plot 124. Her husband, Eugene, would eventually be interred in Plot 125. [7][8]
