Biography

Willis is the son of Dr. Frank and Sarah Powers. In 1870, he was 8, and lived with his family in Prospect Township, Ohio. The household included Frank E., 40, a physician, born in New York, with $2000 in personal assets; his wife Sarah A., 31, born in Ohio, with $1000 in real estate; and their four sons: Charles G., 9, in school; Willis M., 8, in school; Frank, 4; and Lafayette, an infant. ^[1]

In 1880, he lived at 32 Detroit St., Kenton, Ohio. The household included his maternal grandmother, Susan, 72, a widow, whose father was born in NY, and whose mother was born in PA; her daughter, Sarah Powers, 41, a widow; and Sarah’s four children: Charles, 19, a store clerk; Willis M., 18, a store clerk; Frank E., 14, a student; and George L., 10, a student. ^[2]
