Josiah was born in 1847. He was a private in Co A, 129th Regiment of Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and was injured at Buzzards's Roost during the battle of Chickamauga, Georgia. He was taken to Chattanooga, where he died from the effects of his wound. He is buried at Powers Cemetery. He was the son of Clark Powers and Hannah Ketchum. He passed away in 1864.
