See the profile for Margaret's father, James, for early source reference details. The baptismal record for Margaret is available online.[1] She was baptized on October 6, 1834; the baptismal record does not include a birth date. The 1900 census provides the birth month as September, though that record incorrectly gives the age/birth year as 62/1837 (should be 65/1834). Margaret was the second-oldest child sailing with the family to America in September 1847. Her age is correctly reported on the ship manifest as 12; she was about to turn 13.
Margaret was married to Patrick Higgins on 29 Jan 1855 in Frostburg, Maryland by Rev. Michael Slattery.[2] For additional information about the Higgins family, see husband Patrick's profile. The exact date of Margaret's death in October 1905 is uncertain.[3]
↑ Information forwarded from Bob Thompson in August 2021: Margaret's obituary appears in the Frostburg Mining Journal 4 Nov 1905 edition, page 3. That obituary gives the date of death as Monday, October 30, 1905. Margaret's death certificate has the date as 21 Oct 1905. Both sources agree that Margaret died in Vale Summit.
