Biography

Mary (Powers) McSwain has Appalachian roots, in Kentucky.

Mary Elizabeth 'Liz' Powers was born on 21 February 1929 at Middletown, Butler County, Ohio, United States. She was the daughter of Marion Powers and Sylvia (Thomas) Powers.

In the 1930 census Mary (age 0) was the daughter of Marion E Powers at Leatherwood, Menifee County, Kentucky, United States.^[1]

In the 1940 census Mary (age 11) was the daughter of Marion Powers at Lemon Township, Butler County, Ohio, United States.^[2]

At some point after the 1940 census Liz and her family relocated to Jackson County, Michigan near Grass Lake. Her social security card was issued in Michigan. She married Arlan Robert McSwain in 1951 as seen in Arlan's obituary. They were parents of three children, two sons and a daughter - all still living. Arlan and Liz traveled extensively across the world with Arlan's job assignments.

Liz died (age 74) on 15 September 2003 while residing at Bryan, Brazos County, Texas.^[3] She was in an obituary on 17 September 2003 in Texas, United States. ^[4] She was buried at Bright Light Cemetery, Bryan, Brazos County, Texas. ^[5]

Arlan remarried after Liz died and was married about 10 years before his death on 3 Apr 2018. He was buried with Liz at Bright Light Cemetery. Arlan was mentioned on a memorial in Bright Light Cemetery, Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, United States with a death date of 3 April 2018.^[6] His second spouse is still living.
