Charlotte Poynter (also spelled Pointer) was born in 1861 at Hoo, Kent, England. She was the daughter of Abraham Pointer and Ann Boosey.[1]
In the 1861 census Charlotte Pointer was age 0 living at Hoo St, Hoo, Kent with her father Abraham Pointer (42), mother Ann Pointer (33), brothers Thomas Pointer (15), William Pointer (7), John Pointer (3), sisters Mary A Pointer (13), Emma Pointer (11), Elizabeth Pointer (9), Sarah Pointer (5). Also her grandfather Thomas Boosey (55).[2]
In the 1871 census Charlotte Poynter was age 10 living at Sittingbourne, Kent with her father Abraham Poynter (52), mother Ann Poynter (43), brothers William Poynter (17), John Poynter (12), James Poynter (8), Walter Poynter (6), sisters Elizabeth Poynter (18), Sarah Poynter (14), Annie Poynter (1).[3]
Thomas Sanders married Charlotte Poynter on 25 Dec 1880 at St John, Stratford, Essex.[4][5] Thomas was the son of James Sanders, a brickmakers foreman, and they were living in Hoo, Kent during the 1870s. It was probably the brickyard where Charlotte's father and brothers worked.
In the 1881 census Charlotte Sanders was age 20 living at Lovitt Rd, West Ham, Essex (the same street as her parents) with her husband Thomas Sanders (20).[6]
Thomas and Charlotte moved to Edmonton, Middlesex where they had two children: John Thomas Sanders (1881–1884), Alfred Robert Sanders (b. 1883).
Charlotte's husband Thomas Sanders probably died in 1882.
Thomas Winch (Age 22; Bachelor; Labourer; Residence St Mary Strood; Father John Winch deceased, Labourer) married Charlotte Sanders (Age 24; Widow; Residence St Mary Strood; Father Abraham Poynter, Labourer) on 9 May 1886 at St Mary, Strood, Kent.[7] They had eight children: Sarah Ann Winch (b. 1886), Thomas William Winch (b. 1888), Florence Mabel Winch (b. 1890), Albert James Winch (b. 1892), May Ethel Winch (b. 1895), Henry Winch (1897–1899), Lilian Rose Winch (1900–1902), Edith Winch (b. 1902).
In the 1891 census Charlotte Winch was age 29 living at 2 Alma Place, Strood, Kent with her husband Thomas Winch (26), their children Sarah Winch (4), Thomas Winch (3), Florence Winch (0), brother-in-law James Winch (19), and her son Alfred Sanders (8).[8]
In the 1901 census Charlotte Winch was age 38 living at 18 Alma Place, Strood, Kent with her husband Thomas Winch (36), their children Thomas Winch (13), Florence Winch (10), Albert Winch (9), May Winch (5), Lilian Winch (1).[9]
In the 1911 census Charlotte Winch was age 49 living at 18 Alma Place, Strood, Kent with her children Thomas Winch (23), Albert Winch (19), May Winch (16), Edith Winch (9).[10] Her husband was at his mother's house.
Charlotte Winch died in 1913 age 52 at Strood, Kent. She was buried on 16 Sep 1913 at All Saints, Frindsbury, Kent.[11][12]
