Amelia Annie Poynter or Wright was born in 1890 at Strood, Kent, England. She was the daughter of Richard Wright and Annie Poynter.[1] Her father was serving in the Royal Navy and her parents did not marry until 1891.
In the 1891 census Amelia Wright was age 0 living at Temple Street, Strood, Kent with her mother Annie Wright (22), grandfather Abraham Poynter (72), grandmother Ann Poynter (63), uncles John Poynter (33), James Poynter (28), aunt Eliza Poynter (20).[2]
Amelia Annie Poynter was baptised on 21 Apr 1892 at St Nicholas, Strood, Kent.[3]
Amelia's mother Annie died in 1896. Amelia's father married Eliza Poynter (Annie's sister) in 1898.
In the 1901 census Amelia A Wright was age 10 living at Charles Street, Strood, Kent with her aunt/step-mother Eliza Wright (29), siblings Richard S Wright (8), Frederick G Wright (5), Beatrice M Wright (2), grandmother Ann Poynter (73), uncles John Poynter (42), James Poynter (38).[4]
Walter Bell married Amelia Annie Poynter on 11 Feb 1911 at St Mark, Gillingham, Kent.[5][6] They had two children:
Sidney Walter Bell (b. 1913),
Henry Richard Bell (b. 1915)
In the 1911 census Amelia Annie Bell was age 20 living at Gillingham, Kent with her husband Walter Bell (27).[7]
In 1939, Amelia A Bell (b. 10 Oct 1890) was living at 19 Bushey Close, nr Boughton, Swale, Kent. Occupation: Domestic.[8] Her husband was working in Gillingham, Kent.
Amelia's husband Walter Bell died in 1940.
Percy John Saffery married Amelia Annie Bell in 1949 at Chatham, Kent.[9]
Amelia Annie Saffery of 75 St Marks Avenue, Northfleet, Kent died on 3 Jun 1954 at The Gravesend and North Kent Hospital, Gravesend, Kent.[10][11]
