Biography
When Elizabeth Virginia Prather was born in 1863 in Prince George's, Maryland, her father, John R. Prather, was 30, and her mother, Mary Emily Cator, was 26.
In 1870 when she was 7 she lived in Bladensburg PGC, MD with her parents [1]
Her brother Francis "Clinton" Prather was born August 1871 when Elizabeth was 8 years old. He lived until 1947.
Her sister Emma Susan Prather was born on March 14, 1872, in Nottingham, Maryland, when Elizabeth Virginia was 9 years old.
Her brother William Pratt Prather was born on January 17, 1877. William died when he was about 22.
There were other siblings,
Marriage: She married William Walter "Bill" Mangum in 1883. Elizabeth Virginia Prather married William Walter "Bill" Mangum in 1883 when she was 20 years old.
- Daughter Gertrude (Gurdy) Mangum was born in August 1884 in MD.
- Son Kelly Randolph Mangum born March 17, 1887, in Nottingham, Maryland.
- Son William Walter Mangum Jr. was born 1889.

- Son James Franklin "Frank" Mangum born May 22, 1897, in Nottingham MD Died 1958.
- Son Charles F Mangum was born in 1900.
Death of Husband, William Walter/Bill Mangum: Her husband passed away in 1905 in Maryland at the age of 46. They had been married about 20 years. Their daughter Mary was born in 1905 following the death of her father.
In the 1910 Census, widow Elizabeth was head of her household in Precinct 5, DC. This is the same year that her dad and mom died in PGC, MD.
In the year 1920, Elizabeth lived in DC. Mrs. Elizabeth Virginia Prather, now Mrs. Robert C. Mitchell, lived in Washington, District of Columbia, in 1920.
She died in DC on 21 March 1931 at age 68. She was buried in DC 4 days later.
