HISTORY OF ROSS TOWNSHIP STATES THE FAMILY MOVED TO VERMILION COUNTY IN 1831 SETTLING EAST OF DANVILLE AND A FEW YEARS LATER PURCHASED A FARM ON THE ILLINOIS-INDIANA STATE LINE. The 1880 census shows William in Grant Township, no wife. Children: Ann, age 28; John T. age 26; Moses W. age 24; Cornelius M., age 22; Maria age 17; and Catharine, age 14. William and family are next door to Cornelius Bowman, age 42, wife Mary J, age 38 and their children, Henry age 15, Moses age 10 and Flora Etta age 6.Cornelius is certainly the brother of William's deceased wife, Mary Bowman.[1]
