James Prather was born circa 1729, in Prince George's county, Maryland, where he signed the Oath of Fidelity and Support to the newly formed United States of America, following the American Revolutionary War. [1] James is honored for his Patriotic Service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A092411. DAR records indicate that James died before July 22, 1791, in Prince George's county, Maryland and that his wife's name was Ann Turner. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their sons, Joseph Jeremiah Prather, who married Elizabeth Welsh; Benjamin Prather, who married Rachel Walker; and Josiah Turner Prather, who married Elizabeth Drummond; and of their daughter, Ruth Prather, who married Robert Deakins Hooker.
