Silas was a soldier in the garrison at Fort Massachusetts and later at West Hoosac Fort, his name appearing on the old muster and pay rolls as early as 1747 and until 1762. He served in the French/indian War in the expedition against Crown Point in 1755. Was also a Revolutionary Soldier and was in the Battle of Bennington in 1777.[2]
He passed away after 1780 in Bennington, Vermont.
Notes
While I'm not yet seeing any sources that connect William Pratt to Silas Pratt I as his father, the fact that William was born and died (and buried) in the same locations as Silas Pratt II and William's wife was the sister of Silas' wife, it seems just too convenient for it to not be true. So, I've linked them. --Scott Prentice
Something isn't quite right about the findagrave records (or these records). If this is the record for Silas II, then according to findagrave, this is the record for his father (the Silas described in this profile). But the birth date and place as well as the parents for Silas I in findagrave differ from those shown here. A bit of cleanup looks to be needed. --Scott Prentice
I'm not convinced that Silas married "Deziar." The only records I'm seeing with her name indicate that a Silas and Deziar Pratt had sons Asel and Phineas in Pownal, Vermont, but they were born in 1780 and 1783. This Silas would have been 54. Possible, but perhaps not this Silas. Why 20 years between Silas Jr. and these other children? Perhaps there were many in between? Maybe two wives? Need more "real" source material than FindAGrave. --Scott Prentice

something is up, I haven't figured it out yet. But the Silas Pratt that married Olive Williams is on another line (at least on WT. I'm not sure which is correct) https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Pratt-5922
