Congratulations!

This week we have your last stop on the guided tour. Hopefully, you're feeling like a WikiTree pro! If not, you can always revisit the tour stops via the comment boxes on the right side of your profile.

You've covered a lot of ground the past few weeks. Today, we want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.

Please do not hesitate to ask questions! If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

Thanks, WikiMesssenger Cindy

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.

There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.

Please let one of us know if you have questions! If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy

Hi Anonymous,

Congratulations on being Pre-1700 certified! Now it's time to pick a project that best fits the pre-1700 profiles you'll be working on. Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Do you have some historically-significant ancestors?

Look at the list of active projects to see if one fits your needs.

Once you find a project that interests you, visit their project page for more information and to find out how to join. You can also use the Special Following page link to add the project tag to your profile, and you'll be kept up to date on any activity that occurs for that project.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

You've been here for several weeks now! We hope your profiles are coming together and you've enjoyed getting to know us a little better.

You're getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now and collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

Questions?? Just ask! If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy

PS-Good work so far! Have you noticed on ancestor profiles on bottom right is "Research" where you can get sources and more information? Give it a try sometime!

Hello

This week, we'd like to show you How to Join in the Community. There's no shortage of opportunities to get involved through social media, our forum, and projects.

Be sure to check out the One Name Studies Project to see if anyone has started a project for one of the surnames in your family. Don't see one? Follow the instructions for starting your own!

Questions? Ask on my page! :-)

Welcome! We are so glad you are here! Please make sure each of your Smith profiles has a birth year, birth place and at least one Source. If you don’t have exact information, please mark your best guess as Uncertain. Thanks!

Is the surname Smith on your Tags Followed? http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

We have a Smith Name Study to assist you with your general research and genetic genealogy: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Smith_Name_Study

There are links on the Smith Name Study page to our Smith One Name Study, Brick Walls, Pending Merges, Unsourced Profiles, Error Lists, Smith Researchers and WikiTree Genealogists, the northeastern US SmithConnections DNA Project and others. There are plenty of opportunities to add and improve Smith profiles. Thank you!

Hi there! My name is Vicky (Freeth) Majewski and I am a WikiTree Mentor.

I'm just checking in to see how things are going. Are you enjoying WikiTree so far? Any questions? Any issues?

Feel free to contact me via my profile page. I am happy to help!

Valerie,

You are now a confirmed member and can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. For that reason we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use the site. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow you'll hear from a WikiTree mentor, who will check in to see how you're doing and to answer any questions you might have.

Next week you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can meet some of our members by joining in on our Question of the Week: "Do you have any inventors in your family tree?"

Welcome!

Karen

Hi and welcome to WikiTree!

WikiTree is different from other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person. That means we will all share ancestors and work together as a collaborative team! The Honor Code helps keep everything functioning smoothly as we work on our SHARED tree.

You should have received an email with links you can use to get started. Once you confirm your email address, you'll have an option to volunteer to add information to WikiTree. Begin with tags for your own profile. Tags are surnames, locations, concepts, etc. in which you're interested.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add to the tree!

We're really glad you're here!
