Biography

Born 1677/8 at Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Just like Jabez's 10 known siblings, not much is known of his childhood. Thomas Pratt seems to have managed to avoid the record takers most of his life. None of Thomas's children had recorded births, or at least recorded births that managed to survive down to modern times. In addition, many of his children have estimated births that can vary wildly within published works making name searches somewhat treacherous. "The Pratt Directory" has a very basic sketch for Jabez with the 1677 birth, two marriages, and five children with the last two children listed as "probable").^[1]

He married first Hannah Gale on 22 Apr 1714 at Framingham, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay - parents of Abiah (Pratt) Pike^[2][3]

Middlesex County, Massachusetts Deed Book 27 Page 368.^[22] Jabesh and his brothers Jonathan and David sell two parcels of land to Abraham Cozins. Deed is dated 6 Jul 1709 and recorded on 29 Mar 1728.

Middlesex County, Massachusetts Deed Book 36 Page 552.^[23] Jabez sells a parcel of land to David Pratt. Deed is dated 18 Feb 1730 and Jabez verifies deed on 2 Jul 1731 and deed is registered on 9 Jun 1735.

Middlesex County, Massachusetts Deed Book 48 Page 27.^[24] Jabez Pratt to Robert Eames. Dated 26 Nov 1739 and recorded on 17 Oct 1748. Not sure if this is this Jabez or his son, Jabez.
