William was born in 1859^[1] He was the son of George Preece and Caroline Skillery. He was living with his parents and siblings at Chalk Pits, Dorking, Surrey, England in 1861^[2] He was living with his mother and siblings in Dorking, Surrey, England and he was working as a Butcher Boy in 1871^[3]
