Voorhies Prejean is a descendant of an Acadian

Pierre Voorhies Prejean, son of Ursin Theonille Prejean (1831 - 1888) and Adenise (Léger) Prejean (1834 - 1908), was born on 9 February 1874 in Lafayette, Louisiana, United States.

His known siblings were:

  1. Ursin Theonille Prejean II (1855 - 1932)
  2. Francois Prejean (1856 - 1857)
  3. Marie Zulima Prejean (~1858 - ~1937)
  4. Joseph Lesin Prejean (1860 - 1864)
  5. Philomene (Prejean) Iseringhauser (1863 - 1894)
  6. Paul Lucius Prejean (1866 - )
  7. Laurence Prejean (1869 - 1914)
  8. Louis Anatole Prejean (1872 - 1956)
  9. Joseph Albert Prejean (1877 - )

In June of 1880 he was counted as a five-year-old in his parents' St. Landry Parish household. Oldest brother Ursin, a doctor, lived next door.[1]

Voorhies married Andrea Richard (1879 - 1971) in Louisiana c.1897.

  3. Rose (Prejean) Latour (c.1910)
  4. Felvin Chatlain (c.1904) Adopted son

In 1910 they were living in Acadia Parish, Louisiana, with two daughters, an adopted son, and an unknown Prejean male, possibly a younger brother.[2]

By 1930, still in Ward 2 of Acadia Parish, they were just the two of them.[3]

In 1940 they were living with daughter Rose and her husband in Bayou Wikoff, still in Ward 2 of Acadia Parish, Louisiana.[4]

Voorhies died on 12 June 1946, at age 72, and was buried at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana.[5]
