Helen Mawson I remember well. She was my great grandmother (my Granny Mawson) and often visited the farm, Nantanog, on the Isle of Anglesey, where I was brought up. My recollection is of a kindly lady, slightly stooped and dressed in the conservative style of the day with grey stockings and sensible shoes.
Her sister, Anna, married Thomas Hayton Mawson in 1884 and through them she met Thomas’ brother Robert whom she married in 1890.
On one of her visits to the family at Nantanog. when I was about 8, she suffered a heart attack. Attended to by the local GP he was not able to save her and she passed away. Her body was transported to her home at the time; Thornton Hall, Ulceby, Lincolnshire.
