(1892). IN CHAMBERS. TUESDAY, AUGUST 9TH. (Before His Honor Mr. Justice Chubb.) Special application in re V. C. Murray Presley, insolvent. Motion to amend the minutes of the order of the 1st August. Mr. Beaumont for AIfred Shaw and Co., creditors of order. Vary as follows:- Upon the official trustee's costs being paid or secured, to his satisfaction and upon Simon Presley, the father of the insolvent, depositing in the hands of the manager of the Queensland National Bank, Croydon, £92, being a sum equal to 2s in the £, or thereabouts, on the date specified in the statement of endorsing insolvent's promissory notes in favor of the trustee for sums equal to 9s in the £ on the said debts, and delivering the same to the bank-manager, to abide the order of the court, and the trustee consenting hereto, let him withdraw from possession and assets, and let proceedings herein be stayed until the 23rd inst. or further order.

OBITUARY. DEATH OF MR. V. C. M. PRESLEY. A well-known resident of Darwin, Mr. Villiers Clarence Murray Presley, died in the hospital at seven o'clock on Saturday morning, July 14th. Deceased was formerly well known in Blackall, Croydon, and Thursday Island. He for many years, conducted a newsagency business in Darwin, and subsequently a general store at the 2½ Mile. At one time he was secretary for the Darwin hospital, was for years a member of the Darwin Town Council, and for a term held the position of Mayor. Deceased was 75 years of age. His parents came from Argyleshire, Scotland, he himself being born on a sailing ship at sea, his birth being registered at the port of Brisbane. He leaves three sons, and a married, daughter, his wife having died some few years ago. A sister, Mrs. Saxby, resides in Brisbane. He resided 27 years in the Northern Territory. The Standard extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon, the burial at the graveside being conducted by the Rev. Housden. Wedd, Mr. and Mrs. H. Blain, W. H. Fuller. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Mr. H. Witte and son.
OBITUARY. Mr. Vllllers Clarence Murray Presley, storekeeper, died In Darwin Hospital on Saturday at the age of 75 years. For several years he was a member of Darwin town council, and was also mayor on several occasions. He took part in the Labor campaign on the Croydon goldfields. He was born on a sailing ship at sea, the birth being registered at Brisbane. He was a resident of the territory for 27 years, and left three sons and one daughter.

Fothergill and the nursing staff of the Darwin hospital for their unfailing kind and sympathetic attention to him during his illness in that institution.
