Biography

Mary Ann Preston was born October 1740 in Augusta county, Virgina. She was the daughter of Colonel John Preston and Elizabeth Patton.

A record of the names of the children baptized by the Rev. John Craig, both in his own and in the neighboring Congregations, where God in his providence ordered his labours.

  • Descendants of Mary Preston are given on pp. 58-63 of Brown's book. Note that on p. 6 Mary's husband is incorrectly named as Benjamin Howard. On p. 58 this is corrected and her husband is correctly named as John Howard. Their son was Gov. Benjamin Howard (p. 62), a Brigadier General in the War of 1812, Congressman and the third governor of the territory of Missouri/Louisiana.

Is there a possibility the wrong Charles is connected? If it is we have a big issue with birth years that has to be worked out as she didn't have him at 10

I see I adopted him a while back and didn't get to his clean up yet so will do that in the next few days.
