Lucy was born in 1845. She was the daughter of James Preston and Jane Beaver. She was christened 2nd October 1844 at St Alphage, Greenwich, Kent, England[1] She was living with her parents and sisters at Chapel Street, Minster, Kent, England and she was attending school in 1851[2] She was still living with her parents and siblings at High Street, Minster, Kent, England in 1861[3] She married Alfred Hills 22nd July 1865 in Minster in Sheppey, Kent, England[4] She was living with her husband and 2 sons in Lambeth, London, Surrey, England in 1871[5] She was living with her husband and 6 children at Warner Road, Lambeth, London, Surrey, England in 1881[6] She was still living with her husband and 6 children this time at Lowth Road, lambeth, London, surrey, England in 1891[7] She was living with her husband and 3 of her children at Coldharbour Lane, Lambeth, London, Middlesex, England in 1901[8] She was living with her daughter, Mabel in Lambeth, Camberwell S E, London, England in 1911[9]
