Mary was christened on 06 July 1828 in Burgate, Suffolk, England. She was the daughter of Mathew Pretty and Mary Baker.[1]
Mary arrived in South Australia on 16 April 1840 aboard the Morley, which departed London on 8 December 1839 under Captain Charles Evans, with 192 passengers aboard. Mary traveled with her parents Matthew Pretty and Mary (Baker) Pretty, and her seven brothers and sisters:
On 13 July 1847, Mary married John Meek at the Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide.[3]
Mary died on 3 December 1895 at Para Plains, north of Adelaide, South Australia. She was 67 years old.[4] She is buried at "St. John's Churchyard, Salisbury, South Australia, along with her husband John., Australia [5]
The following notice was placed in The Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1889 - 1931) on 17 December 1895:
MEEK — On the 3rd December, at Salisbury, Mary, the beloved wife of John Meek. Arrived in the ship Morley, 1840.[6]
