Biography

Jane Elizabeth Pretty was born in 1836 to Daniel Pretty and Margaret Wark, at Tatlock, Darling Township, Upper Canada. She married William H Rintoul^[1]. According to the 1871 Census of Canada, the following children were living at home:^[2]

• John Rintoul, age 10^[3]
• Margaret Rintoul, age 8
• Agnes Rintoul, age 5^[4]
• Daniel Rintoul, infant^[5]

Additional known children:

• Mary Rintoul, born 1873^[6][7]
• William G Rintoul, born 1876^[8]

Jane is listed in the census as being of English origin, and attended the Church of Scotland.^[9]

Jane died in 1891, at Middleville, Lanark Township, Ontario.
