JOHN and SARAH settled first around Eufaula, Alabama. They were big fisherman and hog growers. It began to get so crowed around there as settlers moved in, so John and Sarah moved on south about fifty miles to Elamville, Alabama and bought 700 acres of land near and joining the Pea River. Here they raised cattle and hogs. As their children grew up they slowley sold all the land off. The last two boysthat stayed (Nick and Dan) bought some of the land. This too was sold in later years and none of the original homeplace remains in the Dansby name..
