Born at Wolfesfield, Québec, son of William Price and Jane Stewart. Edward George Price remained in England after completing his studies there, and in 1866 established the London offices of the family's lumber business. In 1869, he formed a timber agency partnership with Mr John Pierce of Liverpool and founded the London firm of Price and Pierce, Lumber merchants. They did a lot of business with the Price Brothers Company in Canada.
His son Sir Keith William Price eventually took the head of the company, and in the 1930s it had gone almost entirely out of the Canadian lumber trade, and had became one the largest importer from the Baltic, specializing in Finnish lumber.
